The Future of Science-Policy Making
Washington, DC | February 23, 2024
States As Climate Policy Leaders
Sacramento, CA | March 22, 2024
The Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment celebrated 13 years of the Rising Environmental Leaders Program (RELP) by convening two summits: The Future of Science-Policy Making in Washington, DC (February 22-23, 2024) and States as Climate Policy Leaders in Sacramento, CA (March 21-22, 2024). Both events featured panels of former fellows, boot camp speakers and other policy experts. See below for agendas.
The DC summit focused on big-picture topics at the “future of” the science-policy nexus and identified some successful approaches to overcoming silos in academia and government as well as addressing challenges such as the growing distrust of science and public institutions. The Sacramento summit examined how states can take the lead in shaping larger scale climate policies as well as manage current environmental challenges. Insights gained through the summit discussions will help inform the direction of RELP for the 2024-25 cohort year.
