RELP Cohort: 2021
Earth System Science
School: Sustainability

Tianmei Wang is a Ph.D. student in the Earth system science program. Tianmei is broadly interested in the plant-soil-microbe interactions and sustainable agriculture with an emphasis on improving yield and mitigating toxins accumulation under a changing climate. Her current research focuses on quantifying the impact of climate change and soil contamination on rice production and aims to find ways to improve crop yield and mitigate arsenic contents in grains.

At Stanford, Tianmei was the research chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter and seeks to encourage more undergraduate students to pursue research. She has actively engaged in undergraduate and high school student mentoring through summer research programs at Stanford Earth. Tianmei received her M.S. degree from the civil and environmental engineering program at Stanford and B.S. degree in environmental science and engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She was a recipient of graduate research funding from the Stanford King Center on Global Development.
