Terra Weeks

RELP Cohort: 2016
School: Engineering

Terra is a current M.S. student in the Atmosphere & Energy Program of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Stanford University. Her academic interests span the intersection of renewable energy technology and policy and include distributed energy resources, such as solar generation and energy storage, smart grid technologies, and the design and implementation of energy policies on the local, state and federal levels.

Prior to attending Stanford, Terra worked as the Renewable Energy Program Associate at the San Francisco Department of the Environment where she helped move the City toward its goal of 100% renewable energy by 2030 through programs, policies and research. Her projects included managing a solar finance workshop series, developing a solar group purchase program, and assisting with community-scale energy research, including a USDOE study to incorporate microgrids with solar and energy storage into the Citys Disaster Response Plans. In addition, she helped draft a Better Roofs policy for new construction, which would require solar and/or green roof installations on new construction in San Francisco.

Terra received a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. Upon graduating, she moved to San Francisco and spent a year working for BrightCurrent, a solar marketing start-up, where she fostered a passion for renewable energy. She is currently the Vice President of Projects for the Stanford Energy Club, the largest student run energy organization on campus. She is also a co-founder of SolarUp, a young solar professionals group, and a trained Climate Reality Leader under Former US Vice President Al Gores Climate Reality Project.
