Srinivasan is a Ph.D candidate in the chemistry department at Stanford University. His research, funded by the Global Climate and Energy Project (GCEP), focuses on developing earth abundant electrocatalysts for converting carbon dioxide to liquid fuels such as methanol and formic acid. He also worked on a U. S. Department of Energy funded project on developing similar electrocatalysts for alcohol fuel cells. For his work at Stanford, he received the Center for Molecular Analysis and Design (CMAD) fellowship. He currently serves as the Vice-president Journal of the Stanford Energy Club, one of the largest student-run organizations at Stanford focusing on energy technology, policy and finance.
Srini was born and raised in New Delhi, India. He received his B.Sc (Hons.) Chemistry from Sri Sathya Sai Insitute of Higher Learning, India in 2010 and M.Sc Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2012. He won university gold medals for topping his class at both the undergraduate and masters levels. He has close to five years of chemistry research experience from fields ranging from electrochemistry, spectroscopy to studying nanoparticle growth in bacteria. From 2007 to 2010, he was involved in rural service projects aimed at bringing clean drinking water and basic medical care to remote villages in rural Andhra Pradesh, India. He is also an internationally rated and former national level chess player.
