Allison Sherris

Allison Sherris studies the connections between environmental chemicals and health outcomes in early life. As a Ph.D. candidate in the Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources (E-IPER), her research draws from the disciplines of environmental epidemiology, exposure science and geochemistry. She is currently evaluating associations between exposure to chemicals in drinking water during pregnancy and preterm birth risk in California. Allison’s research also spans global health, exploring the impact of air pollution on child respiratory health in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Previously, Allison received her BS. in chemistry from Pomona College with a focus on the geochemical processes governing water contamination. As an environmental consultant, she evaluated contaminated sites and supported environmental remediation projects throughout Alaska and the Pacific. Following this work, Allison joined the E-IPER program as the David and Lucille Packard Foundation Fellow.
