Vinicio de Jesus Perez MD

My research focuses on defining the molecular, cellular, and genetic mechanisms that drive pulmonary vascular remodeling, right ventricular adaptation and failure, and endothelial-pericyte interactions. Our laboratory has pioneered studies of lung pericyte biology in pulmonary hypertension and continues to investigate how vascular cell crosstalk contributes to disease progression and therapeutic response.

In parallel, I have a longstanding interest in global pulmonary vascular health, working to better understand the worldwide burden of pulmonary hypertension and improve access to care in resource-limited settings. My clinical and translational research also emphasizes drug- and toxin-induced pulmonary hypertension, particularly methamphetamine-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension, with the goal of uncovering disease mechanisms and developing more effective therapies.

As Staff Physician of the Stanford Adult Pulmonary Hypertension Program, I lead and participate in clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for pulmonary hypertension, with the overarching goal of translating scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes.
