Addressing the 21st century challenges facing our water sector requires fresh and renewed thinking. Alternative water management practices, such as distributed and multi-purpose water solutions, can increase the resilience and flexibility of our water and wastewater systems while also extending their lifetimes. A new financing framework based on lessons learned from the energy sector can be used to guide the water sector for the future.
