Stephanie Bachas-Daunert is a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering and holds a National Institutes of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein Predoctoral Fellowship, and previously had a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship alongside the Stanford School of Engineering 3D Diversity Fellowship. Her multidisciplinary work lies at the interface of environmental and public health, and she works jointly with Professor Craig Criddle in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Professor David Relman in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

Stephanie graduated cum laude from Princeton University in 2010 with a B.S.E. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a certificate in Environmental Studies. She received her Masters in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in Spring 2012. Stephanie has performed scientific research since her sophomore year of high school; past projects include work of a materials science, chemical engineering, biomedical, and environmental nature. Her work has been published in the primary literature, and she has received research awards at national and international levels.

Stephanie has held officer positions in chapters of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the American Society of Civil Engineers, as well as led engineering-related outreach and mentoring efforts. She volunteers in East Palo Alto through the NSF-funded Stanford REDLab Educating Young STEM Thinkers project, in an effort to introduce STEM topics to underrepresented groups and mentor the future generation of scientists and engineers. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, tennis, and remaining active in both the Princeton alumni and Stanford communities.
