Sandra Nakagawa

Sandra Nakagawa is a PhD candidate in Sociology at Stanford University. Her research focuses on gender differences in environmental and health behaviors in the US. Drawing on survey, experimental, and text analysis methods, Sandra studies how concerns about masculinity contribute to men's lower rates of many sustainable and health-related practices. Her current projects extend the findings of earlier studies to look at potential interventions aimed at increasing mens willingness to engage in environmental behaviors. She is also doing collaborative research with the newly launched Roble Living Laboratory for Sustainability at Stanford. Additionally, for the 2015-2016 academic year, Sandra was a graduate dissertation fellow at the Clayman Institute for Gender Research at Stanford University. Before starting at Stanford, Sandra completed her undergraduate studies the University of California, Berkeley with B.A. degrees in Sociology and English.
