Webinar | New Evidence on the Health Impacts of Wildfire Smoke

Event Details:

Friday, September 18, 2020
11:00am - 12:00pm PDT

Massive and unprecedented wildfire activity spanning the west coast of the United States has displaced thousands from their homes and exposed millions to the worst air quality in the world. What impact have these events had on the health of people in the region – the people directly in harm's way, the brave individuals helping to fight the fires, and the millions exposed to polluted air?

What do these health impacts tell us about a future warmer world in which large and intense wildfires will become more common? How can local, state, and federal agencies respond? Experts that participated in this webinar hosted by the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment discussed new evidence on the health impacts of exposure to wildfire and wildfire smoke, and implications for what individuals and policymakers can do to reduce impacts, now and in the future.
