Reflecting his interdisciplinary training in American Studies, which combined the fields of history, literature, and economics, Professor Kennedy's scholarship is notable for its integration of economic and cultural analysis with social and political history.  In collaboration with the Bill Lane Center and Water in the West, his research is focusing on three key areas in which we have the greatest potential to help promote effective water reform:

  1. Integrated groundwater and surface water management
  2. Performance measurement and information systems for sustainable water management
  3. Water recycling
