"Made in China," a four-part lecture series sponsored by School of Earth Sciences and the Woods Institute for the Environment at Stanford, explores the consequences of rapid modernization and burgeoning population growth in China. The first lecture took place Dec. 4; the remaining three will take at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium on Jan. 23, Feb. 13 and March 6. Free and open to the public.

Chris Edwards, an associate professor of mechanical engineering and the John Henry Samter University Fellow in Undergraduate Education, discussed techniques and philosophy during a Nov. 30 "Award-Winning Teachers on Teaching" talk. Edwards conducts research into advanced combustion and propulsion systems and teaches sophomores in E 30 (Engineering Thermodynamics), juniors and seniors in ME 140 (Advanced Thermal Systems) and graduate students in ME 370B (Energy Systems II).
