The Program
The workshop will bring together a small group of leading legal scholars, practitioners, and scientists in the conservation field. Through a series of presentations and discussions, the group will examine new ideas and approaches such as whether and how to modify existing conservation easements and other instruments to aide in adapting to a changing climate in the future. The workshop will hopefully result in preliminary recommendations for changes in conservation law, policy, and practice to facilitate adaptation of conservation strategies to a changing climate, as well as an agenda for further analysis and outreach. The Woods Institute and The Nature Conservancy will produce a public report that summarizes key concepts, discussion points, and research proposals that come out of the workshop.

The meeting will begin with a dinner reception on Sunday, February 22nd from 6:00-9:00 p.m. On Monday, we will begin sessions at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. Ð a dinner follows MondayÕs sessions. Tuesday, will start at 8:30 a.m. and will end at lunch (noon).

The agenda and other program information will be available on the Woods Institute for the Environment website soon. Email alerts will be sent to all participants when items of special interest have been posted.

Because funding is limited, we are grateful to those who are able to cover their own travel expenses. We do, however, have a limited amount of funds available for those participants who cannot cover their own travel expenses. Please email Mollie Field as soon as possible if you would like to receive information about travel grants.

We are pleased that you will attend this important event.

Transportation
Transportation will be provided each day to/from the Stanford Guest House to the meeting site and special event venues.

Stanford is roughly equidistant from San Jose and San Francisco airports. Sam Trans' Route KX might be the cheapest way to get to and from San Francisco International Airport. That bus stops in front of the Stanford Shopping Center on El Camino Real. The Stanford shuttle, called Marguerite, connects there. Caltrain and BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) connect at the Millbrae station and for an additional fee; there are BART trains that run directly to the airport. More information about public transportation from the Oakland, San Jose and San Francisco airports is available through the transit info website (see below).

A number of private companies also provide shuttle transportation from the San Francisco and San Jose airports, and taxis serve the Stanford campus from both locations.

For additional questions or trip planning assistance, please call the Bay Area Transit Information Hotline by dialing 511 from within the San Francisco Bay Area or (510) 817-1717 from outside the San Francisco Bay Area.

Stanford Parking & Transportation Services (P&TS) is also available if you need assistance planning your trip. They can talk you through the best route to campus. Contact the P&TS office at (650) 723-9362 or email at
