MARINE Graduate Seminar Series
Seminar theme for 2011 - 2012: Land - Sea Interaction
Location: Monterey Bay graduate education institutions
Time: see schedule
MARINE (Monterey Area Research Institutions' Network for Education) hosts a bi-monthly seminar series. Most seminars are preceded by journal club sessions held either at Stanford, UC Santa Cruz, and in the Monterey area where students discuss the background on the topic and prepare questions for the seminar. Seminar topics this year will include: ocean acidification, desalination, and salmon and dams.
The MARINE program, an initiative sponsored by the Center for Ocean Solutions, facilitates exchange among students by providing an array of inter-institutional activities such as courses, seminars, and workshops, which create opportunities for students to apply their training to ocean challenges and engage in real world problem-solving and policy recommendations. It is a collaboration of seven academic campuses: CSU Monterey Bay, Hopkins Marine Station, Monterey Institute of International Studies, Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, Naval Postgraduate School, Stanford University, and UC Santa Cruz.
