To achieve environmental sustainability, Stanford must work not only to solve problems but also to educate and train the next generation of leaders in addressing complex environmental challenges. Stanford is leveraging its historic strengths in interdisciplinary education to build on existing programs and to create new programs to do so.
- Interdisciplinary Education Programs. These programs provide undergraduate and graduate students with the information they need to understand and, ultimately, help solve complex environmental problems. They include Earth Systems, the Goldman Honors Program and the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Environment and Resources (IPER).
- Leadership Training Programs. These programs are designed to provide focused training to scientists and decision-makers in areas such as communications, leadership and management. These programs will be made available both to on-campus and off-campus participants. They include the existing Aldo Leopold Leadership Program and the new Leadership and Training Program.
