The dedication of Y2E2 Building on March 4, 2008, underscored Stanford's commitment to finding new ways of reducing its carbon footprint. Y2E2 uses half the energy and 10 percent of the water of a typical buidling of equal size. The building is home to dozens of faculty and students dedicated to finding practical solutions to global environmental challenges through programs such as the Woods Institute, the Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency, and the Global Climate and Energy Project.
